Hostal Mare Nostrum is located in the heart of Barcelona, making it very easy to arrive by public transport.
FROM BARCELONA’S PORT (HARBOR / PIER)
There are 3 options:
The easiest option is to simply catch a taxi from the port to the city centre which is cheap (fare around €15.00 to the city centre) and quick (normally less than 10 minutes).
The nearest cruise terminal is about a 15 minute walk away from La Rambla. However there are 7 cruise terminals and if you arrive at one which is furthest from La Rambla you would need to catch a shuttle bus called the T3 PORTBUS (see details below) which will take you to Mirador de Colom (the memorial to Christopher Columbus).
It is not recommended to walk to the city centre if you are arriving at cruise terminals A, B, C or D (Adossat Quay) because you have a long walk (about 2 km) from the terminal to the Columbus Monument which is at the foot of La Rambla. If you have luggage you will not find this walk comfortable in the midday heat. If you are arriving at the North, East or South terminals (World Trade Centre) then it is possible for you to walk, although it is still a good 15 minutes to the foot of La Rambla.
- Bus (T3 PORTBUS – Blue Bus)
The tickets for the T3 PORTBUS can only be purchased with cash on the bus itself.
The walking time from the Christopher Columbus monument to La Rambla is about 1 minute, and the nearest Metro Station is Drassanes (Green Line, L3), which is only about 5 minutes walk from the monument. Once you are at the metro station you will have a good transport connection to the rest of the city. The price of the T3 PORTBUS ticket is €2.50 for a single trip and €3.50 for a day return.
You cannot use the T10 transport ticket on this cruise bus service. There is no fixed timetable for the Blue Bus however the cruise terminal operators co-ordinate the running of the bus with the arrival and departures of the cruise ships. On average the bus leaves every 30 minutes from the Christopher Columbus monument.
FROM BARCELONA’S AIRPORT “EL PRAT”
There are 3 options:
Leaving the airport you will find a line of taxis that can bring you to Hostal Mare Nostrum (Carrer de Sant Pau, 2 Barcelona) . The approximate price is 40 € and the journey takes about 20 minutes.
You can take this bus in all airport terminals and it will bring you until Plaça Catalunya. There are two lines; you can take the A1 in airport’s Terminal 1 while A2 departs from Terminal 2.
The price is about 6 € for a one way ticket while the round trip ticket costs about 11 €.
You have to get off at the last stop (Plaça Catalunya):

The journey will take about 30-35 minutes.
- Train + Metro:
It’s the most difficult but economical option. You will need a public transport ticket. We recommend you the T-10 ticket (10 trips Bonus that you can use for the rest of your stay), that can be purchased at the train station or subway.
The airport train station is located in Terminal 2 B, if your flight arrives at Terminal 1 you can take a free airport bus to go to the train station.
Once there you have to take C2 train line and get off at Sants station.
From there you have to take the metro line 3 (green) and travel until Liceu station. Once there you will be in front Hostal Mare Nostrum.
The journey will take about 1 hour.
It is the most complicated and long option, but the most economical. They need a special public transport ticket: airport ticket (4,5 €). They can be purchased at any subway station.
Catch at the airport the metro (Line 9) and get off at the Zona Universitaria station, where you have to change to line 3 of the metro and take it towards “Trinitat Nova”. To get to Hostal Mare Nostrum you must travel to Liceu station and then you will be in front of Hostal Mare Nostrum.
The journey will take about 1 hour.
FROM GIRONA’S AIRPORT
Girona Airport is located 103 km from Barcelona. To reach Barcelona by public transport you have two options:
- Taxi: The trip to Barcelona with Taxi costs about 120 €.
- Bus + metro:
Another option to go to Barcelona is the bus, which costs around € 16 for single ticket and € 25 for the round trip. The bus trip takes about 75 minutes.
The bus departs from the bus terminal in Girona’s Airport. There is more than one bus line, so you should pay attention and take the bus to Barcelona.
The bus arrives at the main bus terminal in Barcelona, North Station.
From there you should take the Metro line 1 (red) and stops in Catalunya station.
Once there you have to follow this map to arrive at Hostal Mare Nostrum.
Total time trip: > 2 hours

Using any of these many options you will arrive at
Hostal Mare Nostrum.

The payment of your reservation will be done at the Hostal Mare Nostrum during the check-in process. We will ask you what type of payment you prefer (cask or credit card). In case it is with credit card, it can be a different one than the one you used to garantee your reservation.
The credit card number is needed to garantee the reservation. No charge will be done on it untill you come and make the payment.
The official check-in (02 to 06 pm) time allow us to have a some time to clean the rooms. Before, depending on the circumstances (early cleaning) you might enjoy the room earlier than planned. After, the Hotel is open 24h and we know that plains do not care about check-in time so we keep your room untill you arrive. This is why we need you to tell us about your estimated time of arrival (at the airport or the Hotel). If you planned to arrive after 18:00, please advise us (mail or phone call)
We do have a special locked and secured room for luggages storing so you do not have to worry about them in case you arrive early or leave late.

WE DO NOT ACCEPT CANCELLATIONS OVER PHONE
The prices given in our webpage includes Breakfast and Taxes so the price you will pay at the check-in is the one you saw when you did your reservation (it also appears on your reservation confirmation).
The rooms are provided with fresh sheets, one pillow per person, towels (they cannot be taken out of the Hotel), shampoo, gel-soap and hairdryer.
The closest underground car park :
First crossroad on the HOSPITAL st (coming from Las Ramblas), or on the JUNTA DEL COMERÇ street behind our Hostal.
Parkings cost : approx 28 euros per day (24h)
During the booking process on our webpage, you will have the opportunity to leave us some comments about requests or special questions you might have. We will do our best to answer you as soon as possible.
There is no possibility to add an extra bed in the rooms (for one adult or child). You can bring your own bed if you are travelling with a baby or ask us for availability (30 euros/night).
Our Hostal is not adapted to disabled persons. We are equiped with an elevator but only from the first floor (reception) and upward.
We accept most of debit card or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro), the DINNERS. But we do not accept Anerican Express for the reservation nor for the payment.
We accept pets under request as long as they are small (maximum 10kg) and quiet. They must always be accompanied. They cannot be all alone in the rooms. Guide dogs are also very welcome, of course!
Remember to check the room carefully before you leave. If you still forget something, we will keep it for a few months in our safe but we are not obliged to send it. However, if you ask us to send it to you and we can do it, we want to inform you that the company we work with is MRW, because it is the only one that gives us guarantees. We must warn that this type of shippings, national or international, have a high cost. We do not ship with any other company or by regular mail (Correos), but we do accept that you send us a delivery courier, notifying us in advance. Due to repeated problems with customs, no cell phones or other electronic items are sent.
